I'm not going to lie, when I first met John I arrogantly felt he was not going to be able to teach me anything I didn't already know. Fast Forward several months, multiple sessions, a lot of patience on his part and my 1 year old puppy is walking healed, off leash, passing other dogs and ignoring them and LISTENING to us when we call her or tell her to settle down. His knowledge and ability to read a dog's energy/mood is what struck me as the most important and unique thing about his training. I was used tothe classic one hour group classes, where 5-10 dogs walk on leashes around the circle, do our sits, change directions, etc. All dogs doing the same thing at the same time like on repeat. John works with MY dog, not just any dog during our session. She is "special" and a little "sensitive" and he knows when she is in and when she has checked out and we are wasting our time and stressing her out. He has been professional but still holds us as owners accountable for our part in maintaining the consistency for her training between sessions.
I have 3 children, work full time, and have a crazy life to which John has always been more than understanding and accomodating with. I feel like our training with John will be something we will likely want to re-visit periodically throughout her life as a refresher for both her and us. He won't be able to get rid of us just because her course is done. Sorry John!
